CURRICULUM VITAE.
Jim McMahon (JP, Dip Teach, B. Ed)

Jim McMahon travels and lectures widely in the area of food and wine. He was a member of the National Council of the Australian Society of Wine Education representing Queensland and then NSW from 1990-1999, and is sought after for writing/speaking and wine judging engagements worldwide.

Jim McMahon's book Australian Wines Regions & Rituals, published by RMIT Publishing and launched by Len Evans OBE in October 1995, was a sell out. As a wine and food consultant in the area of hospitality, Jim advised for the 1995 Papal visit of John Paul II and has lectured aboard Silversea Cruises and many of Cunard/Seabourn Cruise Lines, most notably Cunard's legendary QE2" from 1990 to 2006.

   

Jim is a national and international wine show judge and has judged at the following wine shows:

- Bathurst Wine Show (Associate) 2000,2001 & 2002
- Perth Hills Wine Show (Judge) 2002

- Brock University, St. Catherine's Ontario Canada- Alumni (Judge) 1999
- London International Wine Challenge (Judge) 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2005
- Singapore (Judge) 2005, 2006 & 2007 Wine for Asia
- Riverland Wine Show, SA - Associate (2003)
- Canberra National Show, ACT - Associate (2003)
- Japan International Wine Challenge, Tokyo - Judge 2003 & 2005
- Camden Agricultural Wine Show -Inaugural Wine Show (NSW), Judge (2004).
- Attended Vinitaly in Verona in 2001 & 2005
- Conducted Australian Wine Masterclasses for “Australia Week” Austrade Moscow   May 2005.
- Judged at San Francisco International Wine Challenge 2007.
- Judged (panel chair) at Shanghai International Wine Challenge 2007.


 
His regular wine columns are published in state, national and international journals with circulations over 500,000. Jim's many media appearances have included ABC (2BL), 2UE for 2000 & 2002 and commercial radio throughout Australia. He was presenter for the inaugural live broadcast via sky channel of Open Training Network wine courses in 1996. In 2008 Jims ‘wine slot’ is back on Friday nights (fortnightly) on 2UE/954am (syndicated on 3AW,4BC,6PR,96FM,MAGIC & 4BH).

University of Adelaide Basic and Advanced Certificate in Wine Sensory Evaluation.

University of Technology, Sydney Diploma of Teaching; Batchelor of Education in Technical Education (Double Major in Human Resource Management & Communications).

Jim McMahon visits wine regions and writes articles on food, wine and travel on behalf of vineyard associations within Australia and overseas.
